If you're already familiar with recumbents, then you know their special joys. If not, well, they are something very special, and a great idea whose time has been here for quite a while.
Genie
Genie The Genie is elegantly crafted out of chromoly tubing, curved, triangulated and brazed. It's quite sturdy and is designed for touring, but handles quite deftly. The original model won fifth place in the Versatile Vehicle Competition in Milwaukee on way across the country, against vehicles designed specifically for that event; the design has been improved and lightened since then. It costs $3500. In the words of one of its owners: "The best short-wheelbase bike I've ever ridden."

Neobyke
The Neobyke is Special Purpose Vehicles' budget recumbent. Its frame, of mild-steel square tubing, is both sturdy and flexible; it has a long wheelbase, which makes it extremely stable, but is built compactly. Kids can ride it easily. Neobyke

Sprite
Sprite The Sprite uses the same materials and design concepts as the Neobyke. It is a short-wheelbase design, and is both stable and quick.
